Zhivago has superb gaits and beauty, which enabled him to stand out against his competition in both breeding and performance, from his stallion tests to the FEI levels. Beyond this breathtaking exterior, Zhivago also has a charming and cooperative character, which he transmits to his offspring.

Zhivago’s career in the show ring began with his win at the 2009 Pavo Cup, and continued as a winning streak, which followed him as he moved up the levels, always outstanding when compared to the best stallions of his age in Dutch breeding. He matured to campaign successfully as an international small tour horse at Prix St. Georges and Intermediare I, and up to Intermediare II. Highlights of Zhivago’s career include:

  • Winner of the 2009 Pavo Cup for 5-Year-Olds under Theo Hanzon.
  • Winner of all his stallion competitions for M class in 2009/2010.
  • Winner of the 2011 KWPN Stallion Competition series, culminating with a big win at the Finals with an impressive score of 89 points, including 9.5 for canter.
  • Winner of his competitions at the ZZ-Licht and ZZ-Zwaar (4th level) in 2011.
  • Prix St. Georges debut at 8 years old, with the winning score of 73.29 for his first time out.
  • Intermediare I Freestyle second place finisher, and third overall in the small tour, at the 2013 Dutch National Championships.
  • Campaigned on the CDI small tour with Dinja van Liere in 2016.  In addition to achieving high scores, they participated in the stallion class of the World Cup Young Horses in Ermelo, where Zhivago proved to be the best-performing licensed KWPN stallion.
  • Winner of his stallion performance test with an impressive total of 87. Walk (x2): 9 Trot (x2): 8 Canter (x2): 9 Elasticity: 8.5 Posture & balance: 8.5 Rideability & attitude: 9 Talent as a dressage horse: 9
  • Reserve Champion of the 2007 KWPN stallion licensing in Den Bosch (where Blu Hors Zack was named champion).  The stallions were selected out of a group of 186, chosen from the initial group of 640+ stallions.

Krack C, by Flemmingh, is the sire of Zhivago.  Krack C is well known as an international competition horse for 9-time Olympic medalist Anky van Grunsven.  In addition, Krack C has had an important influence on Dutch breeding.

Zhivago’s dam Orendy is a daughter of Jazz, the leading sire in the world of international Grand Prix horses, according to the WBFSH which ranked him number one in the world five times, including in 2019.

  • Orendy is a prestatie, ster, preferent mare descending from an illustrious line of top producers.
  • Orendy is the dam of the Approved stallion Estados (also by Krack C) and the mare Capri P who produced the licensed stallion Grenoble (by Bordeaux)
  • Orendy’s full sister, Trendy is the dam of the KWPN approved stallion Charmeur (by Florencio) and Edelman (by Vivaldi)
  • Another full sister, Serendy, is the dam of the KWPN approved stallion Zuidenwind (by OO Seven).
  • Their dam Endy (by Ulft) also has offspring competing at Grand Prix (Karmijn by Damiro), 4th level (by Jazz), and 3rd level (by Contango).
  • Endy is also the granddam of approved stallion Viento Uno W (by Numero Uno).
  • Endy’s dam Wendy (by Amor) produced a 4th level horse by Ferro and multiple 3rd level horses by Ferro and Krack C.

Zhivago offspring are treasured for their rideability and trainability, with many in competition through the FEI levels.  He has five KWPN approved stallion sons and 33 ster, 8 keur, 19 elite, 1 pref, 5 EPTM, 20 IBOP, 13 sport, 55 PROK daughters.  Some of his outstanding offspring include: Duke (Zhivago x Schwadroneur)

  • Licensed Oldenburg stallion, later gelded.
  • Shown to Intermediare I by Esmée Pool, preparing to debut at Grand Prix, but sadly died in February

Disaronno (Zhivago x Florestan)

  • Currently showing Intermediare I and schooling Grand Prix, ridden by Thomas Ilias

Filegra (Zhivago x Tango)

  • Keur sport mare, scoring 85 at her IBOP
  • Top mare at the Pavo Cup in 2015
  • International debut in Intermediare I under Hendrik Lochthoew
  • Part of gold-medal winning team with German Junior rider Tabea Schroer, competing at the CDI in Saumur, earning scores of 71 and 74, placing second and third individually.

Hero ACB (Zhivago x Havel)

  • Licensed and approved stallion with AES, the Anglo European Studbook, an exclusive studbook based in England, formed to promote sport horses particularly for showjumping.  Hero was fully approved in October 2016, a crowning achievement.
  • Qualified for the Pavo Cup Final in 2016, after receiving all his IBOP and Ster predicates in 2015.
  • Qualified for the Subli Cup final, and as a 4-year-old he already competed in the Jumping at RAI Amsterdam.

Estoril (Zhivago x Gribaldi)

  • Approved KWPN stallion, but unfortunately passed away
  • Finished 3rd in the 2014 Pavo Cup Finals
  • Selected in 2014 and 2015 for the World Young Horse Championships in Verden. Winner of the Consolation Final for 5 year olds and finishing 11th overall.

Gentle D (Zhivago x Contango)

  • Won the Intermediare I championship of Madrid in December 2017 with Brigitte Van Der Hagen of Spain
  • Competing in 2019 on the international small tour with Coby Bolger

Elton T (Zhivago x Royal Dance)

  • Competing on the international small tour with Frank Trommelen
